Art Department !!

Imagine turning what was a perfectly neat and tidy school on Friday afternoon into the disaster zone of Barringa East for the week complete with rubbish and graffiti... and then putting it all back to normal in time for the bell on Monday morning!! .... You'll have to ask the kids of Sunshine West Secondary if it really was "back to normal"... !!

Here is where to find out about how the Art Department did it... and what they got up to as they created "reality" in front of the cameras... and mayhem behind!!

Currently they are all hard at work on other projects ... so watch the forums for alerts to updates here as we manage to reach them for their stories....

NOTE: The "zoom" buttons aren't working yet... soon promise!!

Art Dept. Co-Ordinator "... Hey, don't mess up my Mess!!!

“Hating Alison Ashley” was a lot of fun for me... most of the guys in my department were old film buddies that I also see socially! Tell you what it makes going to work a breeze... even at 5am...!!!

So what was the long and winding road that led me to Art Department Co-Ordinator on HAA...? Once upon a time way back in 1990 you would have found me in semi-professional theatre helping the co-operative theatre company “Hoy Polloy Theatre Productions” get going, must have done a good job 'cause it's still operating today!

Next came casting extras for television commercials and corporate videos, which was great as I got many of my theatre mates paid gigs!

Then it was off overseas and Hospitality Manager at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 1995 and 1997 in Scotland which was both exhilarating and terrifying!  Back to Melbourne and a stint co-ordinating the St Kilda Film Festival before moving into Art Department Co-ordination in 1998 working on the first two series of Stingers.

Since then I have worked on a CBS movie of the week , several Aussie feature films, including “Strange Bedfellows” starring Paul Hogan, which we shot in a small country town called Yackandandah in 2003,  ”You and Your Stupid Mate” starring Rachel Hunter (yes, Rod Stewart’s wife!). Early 2004 was Hating Alison Ashley and I’m now working in the Special Effects department of a huge American feature called “Ghostrider” starring Nicolas Cage.

My career high?  - Meeting Sean Connery and the Coen Brothers in Edinburgh!

My real passion? - Writing - I have been  developing a 13 part melodrama for TV over the last year and hope to get it off the ground sooner than later!

Career advice? - Do what you’re passionate about...  and if you can’t – try to do whatever you are doing to the best of your capabilities! - and mix it up – variety in your work-life is great too!
