This company installs the electrical systems in new and remodeled industrial buildings.

Our brief was to photograph the interiors showing the effect of the lighting on the inner spaces.

Generally we photographed using the installed available lighting. The difficulty was to color balance the film using color correction filters to bring the wild shifts of color produced by the various different artificial lighting.

Floresent light is an incomplete spectrum. The color varies widely. Generally heavy with green, it can also be very blue or very yellow as well. As tubes age, the color varies. Different brands also vary in color. The advantage we had was that all the tubes were brand new. The disadvantage was they were not all the same brand!

At times, it was necessary to light with our own flash. We use filters on the flash to bring the color of the flash to match that of the florescent lights.

In certain offices, daylight also contributed to the lighting mix. A mixutre of tungsten light (very orange) and florescent was very tricky. Sensitive cropping helped here.
