It is splitting hairs to define a difference between still life photos of food as opposed to indoor or out door food photography in general.
I use this category to present photos of food that are not "plate" photos of prepared recipes that might be shot for either editorial or advertising photography promoting an individual chef, restaurant or product.
Frequently these are shot in the studio but since I shoot so much editorial, I use a location that tells a story about the subject as a studio setting frequently relying on the available light which contributes its own story. Often, raw ingrediants are featured as the prime players but prepared products are just as likely to be the main players.
