This series of 5 shots were taken for this Santa Barbara company in my studio. The client wanted a rich, blue background that made shooting these products which were semi-transparent silicon plastic a bit of a challange. The blue from the background filled much of the product making it difficult to really see what the product was.
I used a lot of side lighting to try to pump light into the product without desaturating the background which was blue plexi. We also did not want reflections in the background, just a soft drop shadow.
Shooting on blue, however, for all its problems was far preferable to shooting on white against which this product would be much like a white cat in a snow storm; it would just disappear.
