These products are tricky to shoot because of the round, mirror surfaces that reflect the whole studio, the dull dark grey metal and the white plastic that resists definition.

The same background that works well for the metal is all wrong for the white plastic. In this case, a compromise has to be established between the two extremes.

Today, using digital cameras and PhotoShop, we can adjust the exposures and contrast on different layers and then pull the various different exposures and contrasts into a final image. When these images were shot, everything had to be done at the time of the photo shoot unless thousands of extra dollars were available for air brush retouching or cytex computer retouching.
