This is a type of product photography that involves communicating and idea or numerous ideas as well as showing the product or indicating a service.
A product photograph is designed to show one or more products to the viewer. A product still life is designed to communicate about what that product does, who might use it, how it might be used and so on. Other elements are included in the photograph that are used as symbols to achieve this communication. They also give the viewer something to relate to and that will catch their eye.
