This site is the producers site and is designed to complement the distributor's site that promotes the movie. The core of this site is to direct the movie's fans to the merchandise licenced to manufacturers and their retailors. It will capture the fans and help them find the things they want to buy connected with the movie from the wardrobe of the stars to accessories, hair and beauty products etc. The site also tracks trends of these fans to help merchandisers analyse the success or failure of different products to appeal to the focus market. So the site is set up to provide a lot of fun and information about the movie, the people who make it, the stars, everything that will interest the fans. Then we created a forum for the fans to exchange ideas, information, ask questions of the stars, the film makers, the wardrobe and make-up teams, anything that will interest them to provide more information about their likes and dislikes. Our interest in finding out these trends is made clear to the fans right up front. A catalog of merchandise is presented to let the fans know what is available. Then they will have a search facility to help them find where in their area any product can be purchased and/or an link to an online retailer. So the site is designed to appeal to the 10 to 17 year old female audience. With this in mind, young people in the age group were asked for their reactions to several design approaches and their reactions were compared which helped us adults tailor the site for their likes and dislikes. Even the forum will be moderated by teen girls under more adult supervision. In addition, the site was designed in such a way that the home office in Australia could self administer the site even though they have little web design training. They are able to use Macromedia's "Contribute" to add, change or delete information to the pages themselves as the information changes. Content "modules" were designed into the pages so that the administration could simply copy a module, paste it below and substitute photos and text. |
