Our "How To Photograph Your Flat Artwork" workshop

If you want to learn how to photograph your artwork for submission to galleries, publications, websites etc., we invite you to sign up for our professional workshops starting January 2007.

The class lasts 3 days - 3 hours a.m. & 3 1/2 hours p.m.
Price: $329.00

In Brief:

The goal of this workshop is to teach artists, gallery owners, museum personel or anyone who needs to copy existing flat artwork for reproduction of any kind to capture the most accurate copy of the original artwork possible. When coupled with our "core" computer lab photo workshop which is tailored to copy work, it will allow you full control over getting the best out of your flat artwork. We stress FLAT because the techniques for 3 dimentional art photography are quite different in all regards and we offer a class dedicated to photographing 3 dimentional art as well.

The workshop starts with the actual set up and lighting of the artwork both outside and inside as well as selecting the settings on the camera to obtain the best results. Different surfaces and mediums require different types of light.

Artists are not necessarily photographers as well and we will "de-mystify" the technology of the digital camera so anyone at any level of competence can learn how to obtain fine images in the camera then how to handle their digital images in the computer - PC or Mac.

Using PhotoShop Elements, students will learn how to prepare their image files for a multitude of uses as well as how to identify and fix problems with the images. This includes images from digital cameras as well as images scanned from prints, film slides, transparencies or negatives. Included in this, is instruction on organizing, viewing and cataloguing digital images.
